Hegartys Bay – Free Campsite at Ben Boyd National Park

 

Hegartys Bay, has a bush camp and is used entirely for those hiking and taking the Light to Light walking track. Access either via Bittangabee Bay or Saltwater Creek to the north.


Location – Located in the Ben Boyd National Park – 500kms drive (6.12hrs) south east of Sydney – 633kms drive (6.55hrs drive) north east of Melbourne.
Saltwater Creek Campsite about 31/2 hr walk and 9.8 km long.
Bittangabee Bay about 4 hr walk and 11km long

Parking – Walk in Camp site only. Very Remote

Nearest Town – Wonbyn 29min drive south. Need to walk to either via Bittangabee Bay or Saltwater Creek

Highlights – The unique red rock platform on the water’s edge is the highlight. However the remoteness and seclusion of staying within the heart of the Ben Boyd National Park is the clearly an amazing experience. A great place for getting close to nature, and accessing the ocean – some good platforms for land-based game fishing as well.
