Moon Bay Beach – Sapphire Coast NSW
Named after Fred and Jane Moon, parents of local legend Caroline Moon, who settled in the region in the late 1830’s. Moon Bay is a 200 metre-wide beach set 200 metres back from the ocean. A great swimming beach on the Sapphire Coast.
Where is Moon Bay Beach – Mimosa National Park? – From the Tathra Bermagui Road drive to the end of Nelson Lake Road – track about 2 kilometres through the bush.
Swimming – Shallow beach, so perfect from swimming and snorkelling. Sapphire Coast most perfect swimming beach
Fishing – Large rock ledges project out into the bay offering great fishing platforms. Bream, flathead, salmon, mulloway and gummy sharks are the dominate species. Best time is around the dusk.
Picnic – If you can get to Moon Bay the picnic area is ideal. Small pit toilet.
