Fishing at Nelson Lagoon NSW
Nelsons Lagoon is located approx. 21 minutes north of Tathra and is considered a recreational fishing haven by the NSW State Government. It’s a very shallow in parts however creates enormous opportunities for many estuary species. Those intetested in bird life and bush walks will also take great pleasure in the area.
Where is Nelson Lagoon? From Tathra drive along the Tathra Bermagui Rd, heading towards Bermagui. Drive fro approx. 7kms then turn right into Cowdroys Rd. A further 3kms along the road you will find a small carpark.

Fishing Experience at Nelson Lagoon
Nelson Lagoon is a shallow lagoon yet holds many estuary species, including bream, flathead, whiting and luderick. Small boats or kayaks are a good option, thoughwading this system can be a lot of fun.

Pawning in Nelson Lagoon heading is good when in season.
Be careful of the commercial oyster business at the northern end.
Fishing at Nelson Lake
The main rock platforms along the mouth of the Lake and next to the beach offer drummer, groper and luderick while the deep water in front will give you a chance at passing pelagics like kingfish, bonito, tuna, salmon or maybe a small black marlin.
