Nelson Beach

Nelson Beach – South Coast of NSW

Located a few kilometres north of Tathra, Nelson Beach is named after a mysterious disappearance over 130 years ago. George Nelson disappeared in the area and was never seen again. Despite the tragic mystery, Nelson Beach is one of the nicest and peaceful beaches on the Sapphire Coast.

Where is Nelson Beach at Mimosa Natrional Park? – From the Tathra Bermagui Road, about 2 kms north of Tathra, look for Nelson Lake Road. From there follow the signs. For a better look of the area continue on to Wajurda Point, a short distance beyond the carpark. The view at Wajurda Point is one of the most breathtaking on the South Coast of NSW.

Swimming – Nelson Beach is a very protected and peaceful bay, ideal swimming conditions for all.  The Northern end of the beach leads around to a Nelson Lagoon, which is again a very peaceful and relaxing swimming hole.

Fishing at Nelson Beach – Best area is around the northern end next to Nelson Lagoon. The muth of Nelson Creek also offers great Bream, and Mulloway. Best time of day is around dusk.

Picnic – There is only a pit toilet, however thick Australian bush next to the secluded beach make for an ideal settings
