Tathra Beach

Tathra’s Main Beach – Sapphire Coast NSW

The main beach at Tathra is 3 km long and is a hop skip and a jump from the heart of town. This pristine beach is ideal for fishing, surfing and swimming and offers excellent boat launching and fish cleaning facilities.

Where is Tathra’s Main Beach? – 2 minute walk from the heart of town. Cafes, beach houses and restaurants overlook it. Located on Andy Poole drive.

Swimming – The beach is patrolled during the summer months and creates an ideal swimming experience for both experienced and non – experienced surf swimmers. For those looking for big swells, summer is not the best time. Usually between February to June the larger waves appear, however rarely does the swell get above 1.5 metres.

The best waves are usually at the northern end with a good bank at the river mouth (when it is open ) and it is usually bigger once you get half way along the beach which is called the pole.

Fishing – The sandy banks make fishing ideal along Tathra beach, and is the perefct location to teach the young ones.  Flathead, Salmon, Mulloway and Bream are frequently caught off the main beach. Best spots are up closer to the Country club, near the month of the Bega river. Best times are at dusk.

Picnic – Heaps of amenities make the beach and ideal place for all picnic and party plans
